Year: 2018-2019
Scope of work: automation, generating complex geometry
This airport is located about 15km south from the capital city, handling a significant volume of passengers (more that 14-15 million travelers annually). It stands as a symbol of architectural innovation and serves as a vital gateway to the country and the Middle East.
Bridge over Danube, Novi Sad
1st place
Ognjen Graovac | Fedor Jurić | Ivan Šuić
The design of a new bridge over the Danube was inspired by the old bridge that was destroyed during WW2. Using topology optimization and other advanced digital tools, the structural system was optimized for the new loading conditions and redesigned for the modern digital age, while still retaining a resemblance to the previous design.
Parametric Park, Banja Luka
2nd place
Ognjen Graovac | Fedor Jurić | Luka Bunčić
To design a park in Banja Luka, we developed advanced algorithms for site analysis. We overlapped results from insolation, noise simulation, rainwater flow, vegetation, and view analysis, identifying optimal positions for various park activities and creating numerous micro-climate zones.
3D Graphic Statics
3D Graphic Statics is a C# plug-in designed for Grasshopper 3D, a widely used tool for visual programming and parametric design. This plug-in utilizes a method focused on determining the static equilibrium of compression-only structures. With 3DGS, users can explore various structural designs, having the parametric approach to subdivisions and much more. This free plug-in is intended for architects, engineers, and students.
Spider
Similar to 3DGS, Spider is a free plugin for Grasshopper 3D, centered on a specific form-finding method for structural design. With Spider, you can simulate the behavior of hanging chains, crafting intricate structures with various load options. When you invert the model, you obtain the geometries of compressed arcs, proving how simple yet practical this method is. This approach was used by Antonio Gaudi, with the Sagrada Familia being the most famous example.
